We started with a small patch of hillside in 2012… donated by Daw Yee, a local lady who owns a small rice mill in the village. The local villagers, whose children now attend the school, helped to clear the land with bare hands and simple tools. Once we had money for an excavator for one afternoon things became easier.
With the help of our monks a simple local style building was erected.
This is the original water tank. To replace this one, we built a water tank which holds 2,000 gallons but we need an additional bigger one.
Four laptops were generously given by a donor in Australia, but more are needed.
In 2014 we purchased a nunnery on adjacent land, which is intended to be used as a library, lecture space and an IT room. These facilities will also be available to the local community.
